Via Campesina on Biodiversity

by Andrea Plöger last modified 2008-05-19 09:54

Currently the biggest international "Conference of the Paries to the Convention on Biological Diversity" is taking place for the 9th time - this time in Bonn, Germany. The two past weeks the "4th Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol on Biosecurity" took place there as well. In Bonn, the big agroindustrial multinationals as Monsanto, Dupont, Syngenta, Limagrain, Bayer and Pioneer are pushing for the wider introduction of transgenics (including the so called Terminator Seeds) and the further industrialisation and commercialization of agriculture - as solutions so called "food crisis" and climate change. Members of Via Campesina explain what is at stake.
